When you apply for a Platinum Checking account, you’ll be asked to open a Package Money Market Savings account and/or a U.S. Bank Credit Card at the same time.11

Options to Avoid the Monthly Maintenance Fee

  • Maintain $25,000 in combined personal deposit, investment and/or credit balances12, OR

Applying online takes as little as five minutes and is completely secure.

To open a Platinum Checking account online, you need: 

  •  a minimum opening deposit of $25
  •  to be at least 18 years old and a legal U.S. resident
  •  a Social Security Number
  •  a driver’s license or state/military ID

If you’re missing any of these items, please apply in person at a branch location. 

You have the option of opening a new Package Money Market Savings account or U.S. Bank Credit Card, or converting an existing U.S. Bank Savings account to meet Platinum Package requirements. Once approved, you’ll be asked to submit your opening deposit(s) to activate your account(s).

  12. Combined deposit balances include the average monthly collected balances for personal checking, savings, money market, CDs, IRAs and HSAs. Investment balances include the aggregate minimum daily balance of all investment types held through the statement period.
